About Stay and Have a Cookie

August6

Hi, I’m Amy, and you seem to have stumbled across my little blog. Rather than bore you with a novel of my life’s history, here are some bullet points you’ll want to keep in mind when you visit:

  • I’m the lucky wife of a wonderful man named Tim, who is constantly inspiring me to be a better person.
  • I’m the blessed beyond belief and constantly humbled mommy of the two sweetest little boys. Ever.
  • I firmly believe that my messy house is evidence that I’m doing much more important things with my life than dishes and laundry.
  • I cook and bake not only because I love eating food, but because I love caring for other people with food.
  • I have a weakness for nearly all things red velvet, I’ve even tried the poptart version(don’t waste your time, money, or calories).
  • I love being able to grow my own food, although I’m much better at it when I can setup an automatic watering system, because, let’s face it, I have enough trouble remembering to bathe my own kids, let alone water the garden.
  • I stand by the fact that the best way to eat vegetables is roasted with some olive oil, salt, and freshly ground pepper.
  • I still think the best way to end a difficult day is with a still hot and melty, fresh out of the oven, burn the roof of your mouth, chocolate chip cookie.

Since having kids, I’ve taken much more time to consider the kinds of things we eat, drink, put on ourselves, clean with(yes, I do clean sometimes), etc. I want us to be as healthy as we can be, without being the crazy mom that never lets her kids eat sugar or have fun. So that leads me to one word that I keep coming back to…moderation. We try to eat lots of whole foods with plenty of fruits, vegetables, grains, etc, but sometimes we have frozen yogurt for dinner. And, I think that’s ok. I hope you find something yummy to make here, and I hope you won’t let a fear of the kitchen keep you away, because it’s not as scary as you might think it is.

love and butter,

amy
